On the 14th of September Moscow hosted the 21st meeting of the Russian-Chinese Sub-commission for Nuclear Issues as part of the Commission for preparation of regular meetings of heads of states of Russia and China. The co-chairmen of the commission are Director General of ROSATOM Alexei Likhachev and Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority Tang Dengjie. The meeting resulted in signing the protocol which fixed outcomes of the work done and areas of the further cooperation of Russia and China in the field of nuclear power.
The first criticality of Tianwan-3 in China held this August has become an important outcome of the bilateral cooperation. It was noted that owing to the formed mutual understanding the work on the project of a Russia-designed NPP proceeds ahead of schedule; the power unit will be commissioned as planned.
When identifying new priority projects, the sides are guided by the Joint Statement of the heads of states of Russia and China adopted on November 7, 2016. Reflecting on the meeting, the representatives of the two countries noted that the existing and new projects in the field of peaceful atom would become a practical contribution to the strengthening of the strategic partnership of Russia and China.
