Under the procedure for selection of a strategic investor for Belene NPP project (Bulgaria), announced on May 22, 2019, the state atomic energy corporation Rosatom filed an application for the participation in the procedure in a timely manner. The application was accepted by the Bulgarian National Electric Company (NEK EAD).
