On 1 January 2023, the Stavropol Krai-based Berestovskaya Wind Farm began to supply electric power and capacity to the wholesale electricity and capacity market.
With an installed capacity of 60 MW, the wind power station consists of 24 wind turbines. As confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, 68% of the wind farm equipment is sourced locally.

“The Berestovskaya Wind Farm is our fifth project completed in the Stavropol Krai. All in all, we have commissioned 780 MW of wind capacity in Southern Russia since the launch of our wind generation programme. We do not backtrack on our commitments despite the sanctions pressure. We were quick off the mark in realigning our logistics chains and finding new suppliers. This year we will face another challenge – commissioning of two more facilities in the Stavropol Krai – and strengthen our cooperation with friendly nations in the wind power sector,” NovaWind CEO Grigoriy Nazarov pointed out.

A source of electricity for industry and households, wind power paves the way for a progressive social and economic development of the country. Russia continues to upgrade its power generation facilities, including nuclear capacity, fully in line with current trends towards digitalization and import substitution industrialization. Low-carbon power sources already account for nearly 40% of the Russian energy mix. With the share of wind and nuclear power growing, low-carbon generation will only expand in the future.
